Mark Roland Hiers

Blackville – Mark Roland Hiers (63), beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, nephew and friend, passed away surrounded by love on October 19, 2022.  Funeral services will be held at Reedy Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Harry Warren officiating on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to service.

Mark was born in Bamberg, SC on February 1, 1959, to the late Herman Roland Hiers and Ruby Pearl Collins Hiers. He was a lifelong member of Reedy Branch Baptist Church and loved serving his church and community. He owned Hiers Backhoe Service and was employed at Energy Solutions (formerly Chem-Nuclear Systems) since 1981.  Mark was a hard worker and deeply valued the many friendships made serving clients of his business and throughout his forty-one-year tenure at Energy Solutions.  He loved his family dearly and they were his first priority in all that he did and he will be deeply missed by all.
He is survived by his wife of twenty-eight years, Tammie Hiers; one daughter, Amanda Marie Pearl Hiers of Columbia, SC; one sister, Audrey (Norman) Sanders of Barnwell, SC; one brother, Marty (Sam) Ballard of Pelion, SC; uncle and aunt, Arthur and Annette Hiers of Blackville, SC; first cousin, Doug (Melissa) Hiers of Blackville, SC; first cousin, Chuck (Sonya) Hiers of Barnwell; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gordon and Tammy Turner of Sandy Run, SC; brother-in-law, Ken Turner of Sandy Run, SC; mother-in-law, Bessie Hooker of Blackville, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his nephew, Mclain Holcomb and father-in-law, Billy Hooker.
The family has entrusted Dyches Funeral Home and Crematory with arrangements.
