Barnwell – Melanie Rene Greenwood, 51, entered into eternal rest Friday October 9th. Funeral Services will be held 4 PM Monday at Dyches Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel wit the Rev. Ken Dobson officiating. Burial will follow at Barnwell Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held 5 to 7 PM Sunday at Dyches Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Thomas Baxley, Joseph Harter, Andrew Jordan, Austin Wood, Johnny Tedder and Bobby Hilterbridle.
Born in Hollywood, FL, Ms. Greenwood was the daughter of the late Douglas Wayman Jordan and Madge Higgins Jordan. A loving mother and grandmother, she went into nursing to help others as those that had helped her and to also inspire her daughter to pursue her dream to become a nurse. She was a talented artist who loved to paint and draw and enjoyed sharing those talents with others. She also loved all animals and enjoyed spending much of her time at the Animal Advocacy of Barnwell also known as The Pick of the Litter. Her family and friends would like to remember her saying her favorite quote; “I may bend but I won’t break”.
Survivors include one daughter, Danielle (Joey) Reid of Blackville; one son, Jordan Greenwood of Spruce Pine, NC; one brother, Tom (Charity) Jordan of Douglasville, Ga; Three sisters, Sheila (John) Brooks, Sharon (Jerry) Whitehead, and Sherri (Trey) Wood, all of Barnwell; one grandson, Brody Greenwood, son of Jordan of Spruce Pine, NC; and a very special ex-husband that became her best friend, Robert Greenwood.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Pick of the Litter of Barnwell.
The family has entrusted Dyches Funeral Home and Crematory with the arrangements.
