Barnwell – Freddie Brown, Jr., 71 was born February 18, 1943 to the late Freddie Brown, Sr. and the late Marie Workman Brown in Barnwell County, SC. Visitation will be held Friday, February 13, 2015 from 5-7 at Dyches Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 1pm at Dyches Funeral Home Chapel, Barnwell, SC, with the Reverend Eugene Keitt officiating. Burial will be held at the Brown’s Chapel Church cemetery.
Freddie joined Brown Chapel Baptist Church of Barnwell, SC at an early age. He later became affiliated with the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in West Palm Beach, FL. He united with the Hilltop Baptist Church in Rivera Beach, FL under the leadership of Rev. Griffin Davis, Sr. (Pastor) until his passing.
Freddie was educated in Barnwell County Schools in South Carolina. He worked for several years for the town of Palm Beach. He was also employed by Signal Construction Company for 20 years until his health failed.
Freddie was married to Mrs. Alice Stubbs Brown for 47 years. To this union, four children were born.
Freddie leaves to cherish his memory—a loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Alice Stubbs Brown, of the home. Three sons: Anthony (Olivia) Brown, Mark (Princetta) Brown, and Norman Brown. One daughter, Cheryl Brown all of West Palm Beach, FL. One brother, John (Loreen) Brown of Barnwell, SC. Mother–in-law, Jimmie Lee White of Rivera Beach, FL. Three sister-in-laws: Betty Jackson of Albany, GA, Lillie Bridley of Orlando FL, and Annie Stubbs of Plainsfield, NJ. One aunt, Ammie Harley of Barnwell, SC. Seven grandchildren: Demeka, Taron, Celeste, Davon, Nicholle, Myeasha, and Mark, Jr. One great grandchild, Kalvin, Jr. Three godchildren: Marquel Reed, Leon Reed, and Sherrie McCray all of West Palm Beach, FL. One special nephew, James Jackson and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was the oldest of four siblings. Two preceded him in death: Julia Mae Brown Allen and Shirley Ann Brown Williams.
The family has entrusted Dyches Funeral Home and Crematory with arrangements.
