Barnwell – Phyllis Ann Hutson, 70, passed away January 8, 2024, surrounded by family. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethany Baptist Church, 9988 Dunbarton Boulevard, Barnwell, S.C. with Rev. Brandon Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Barnwell County Memory Gardens, 2728 Reynolds Road, Barnwell, S.C. The family will receive friends and family from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, January 12th at Dyches Funeral Home Chapel, 11372 Ellenton Street, Barnwell, S.C.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Scottie Hutson, Chris Yancey, Michael Hutson, William Towne, Donald Whicher, Allen Benner, Justin Benner and Rocky Lee; Honorary Pallbearers are Rylan, Noah, Hagan, Mason, Mickey, Wyatt, Weston and Sawyer.
Phyllis was born February, 21, 1953 in Charleston, S.C. to the late Lynndol and Polly Steward. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and worked at the YMCA of Barnwell. She loved camping, going on cruises, music, dancing, going to Dollywood, hanging out at her pool, and having Christmas with her family. She was a devoted “Nana” to so many children in the community. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, “mudder”, sister and friend and will be missed by many.
Survivors include her husband of thirty six years, Tommy Hutson; six children, Jodi (Allen) Benner of Odum, GA., Scottie (Elizabeth) Hutson of Barnwell, S.C. Renee (Donald) Whicher of Barnwell, S.C., Christina (William) Towne of Beaufort, S.C., Chris (Nicole) Yancey of Barnwell, S.C., Michael (Lindsey) Hutson of Barnwell, S. C. her sister, Pamula Hutson of Bradenton, FL.; one brother, Riley Steward of Arcadia, FL.; Uncle Arthur (Annette) Hiers of Hilda,S.C.; nine grandchildren, Justin, Ashley, Aubrey, Madelynn, Noah, Rylan, Mason, Hagan and Tommy Scott; one great grandchild, Gracelyn.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Paula Jean Oatley and Penny Bowen.
The family has entrusted Dyches Funeral Home and Crematory with the arrangements.
