Barnwell – Pierce Franklin Beck, Jr., 79, went into eternal rest at his home surrounded by family Wednesday, August 28, 2019. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Barnwell, SC with Dr. Steven Burnette and Dr. Bart Kelley officiating. Burial will follow at Barnwell County Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 6 -8 p.m. at Dyches Funeral Home, Barnwell, SC.
P. F. was born in 1940 in Whitepond to the late Pierce and Lynette Beck, Sr. He served in the US Armed Services. He was a Deacon at First Baptist Church of Barnwell. He served on the property committee of First Baptist for years and followed the construction of the Merge and was head of renovations of the First Baptist Church Child Development Center. He retired from Westinghouse after 33 years of service. He was past Worshipful Master for Lodge #39. He was a gunsmith and a knife maker for 20 years. He was Chairman of the Barnwell Airport Commission and was a pilot for 54 years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and will be missed by many.
Survivors are his wife of fifty years Carolyn P. Beck, one daughter Margaret (Joe) Hurt of Evans, Ga, two sons Paul Franklin (Denise) Beck of Greensboro, NC, and Robert (Lori) Beck of Summerville, SC. One brother Bruce (Charlotte) Beck of Williston, SC; six grandchildren, Sarah, Brian, Patrick, Jennifer, Victoria and Ashton; three great grandchildren, Micah, Miles and Marty.
He is predeceased by one sister, Martha Beck Fanning.
