Derek James Milligan

Barnwell – Derek James Milligan, 61 went into eternal rest on July 3, 2021. A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday, July 8, 2021 from 5pm – 7pm at Dyches Funeral Home, 11372 Ellenton Street, Barnwell, SC 29812. Burial will be Friday, July 9, 2021 at 10 am at Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundary Street, Beaufort, SC 29902.
Derek was born July 28, 1959 in Concord, Massachusetts, to the late Ronald and Winifred Milligan. He served 10 years with the US Army where he was a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division with Echo 505. He was a self-employed contractor and during his spare time he loved fishing and hunting. He was a loving husband, father, brother and friend and will be missed by many.
He is survived by his wife Karen of 30 years. Three sons; Christopher Ryan Milligan, Kevin Timothy Milligan of Barnwell and Derek “Dee Jay” Milligan of Orlando, Florida. One sister; Laura (Jeff) Hopper of Simi Valley, California. Four brothers; Bruce Milligan of Little Rock, California, Ronnie Milligan of Laurens, SC, Dwain Milligan of Hallsville, Texas and David (Fallon) Milligan of Lake View Terrace California. One granddaughter, Lily Milligan and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family has entrusted Dyches Funeral Home and Crematory with the arrangements.
