Orangeburg – John Raymond Foley – 69 went to be with his Lord on March 17, 2016. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at 12 pm with visitation one hour prior to service at Kedron Baptist Church, Aiken, SC, with Masonic Rights. Dr. Brad Willis will be officiating the service.
John also known to friends as “Rooster Man” graduated from USC with a Masters Degree in Biology. He retired from DHEC where he was an Environmentalist and a biologist for the Shellfish Program for the State of SC in Charleston, SC. He was the City manager in Lyons, GA., taught high school Biology in Columbia, SC, and was in the Pipe-fitters Union. He was a member of Friends of the Edisto and Equality Lodge 323. He was involved in politics as a Lobbyist for many years. He had many hobbies which included hunting and fishing. He was loved dearly and will be missed by many.
He is survived by his Mother Cassie Mae Foley of Ridge Spring, SC. Two daughters, Mary Brown (Michael) of Columbia, SC, and Lurah Foley and Jimmy Cleveland of Portland, OR. Two sisters, Ivie Willis (Alex) of Monetta, SC and Sheryl Rodgers (Frank) of Leesville, SC. Two Grandchildren Connor and Vivian Brown of Columbia. Previous wives, Ramona Foley, Carole Clary.
He is predeceased by his father William Foley, one son Edmund Foley and one daughter Viva Foley and previous wife Betty Phillips.
